Eligibility

Planning and Paying for
Your Benefits

You and your family members must meet certain eligibility requirements to participate in the BWH℠ Hotels (BWH) benefit program. Please read this section carefully, particularly the eligibility requirements for a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Who’s Eligible

You may enroll in the BWH benefit program if:

  • You are a regular status employee, and
  • You work at least 30 hours per week

Your eligible dependents generally include:

  • Your children (up to age 26)
  • Your spouse

IMPORTANT ELIGIBILITY NOTICE: If your spouse is currently employed and is eligible for medical coverage at his/her place of employment your spouse is not eligible to participate in BWH’s medical coverage. This is true whether or not the spouse is actually enrolled in medical coverage.

HSA Eligibility

You must meet certain IRS requirements to establish and contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA). Please carefully review the eligibility details here.
Adult Child Coverage: Medical, Dental, and Vision

Your children can receive medical coverage under BWH’s benefit program until they turn age 26. This includes stepchildren, legally adopted children, foster children and children placed for adoption. Your children do not have to be single, dependent on you for financial support or enrolled in school in order to be eligible. Eligibility applies only to your children. Children of your children (your grandchildren) are not eligible for coverage under BWI’s benefit program. The spouse of your child also is not eligible.

Qualified Life Events

Certain life events, called Qualified Life Events, may allow you to change your benefits during the plan year. These are events like marriage, divorce, and having a baby or adopting a child. Please read the information in the box below for more details.
Qualified Family Events
  • Your marriage, divorce, legal separation, or legal annulment or the death of your spouse
  • Your dependent child’s birth, adoption, or placement with you for adoption
  • Your dependent child’s eligibility or ineligibility for coverage because of age
  • A change in your, your spouse’s, or your dependent’s residence that affects that person’s eligibility
  • Change in cost of daycare (Dependent Care FSA only)
Qualified Job Events
  • Commencement or termination of employment
  • Any other change in employment status that causes the person to become eligible for or to lose eligibility for a benefit

Action Required! If you or one of your dependents experience an event listed above, you may change your benefit elections during the plan year.  Any election change you make must be consistent with the event you experienced.  For example, if you have a baby, you may enroll in a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or if you get divorced, you may decrease your HSA contribution.

To make a mid-year change, you must process the change in Workday within 30 days of the event.  Otherwise, you cannot make a change until the next Open Enrollment Period.  Be prepared to provide documentation to support the Qualified Life event.

To process the change, go to Workday > Benefits and Pay > Change Benefits.
